National Treasure Movie Pic

I just completed this cool online scavenger hunt for National Treasure, the new movie with Nicolas Cage. Solving these puzzles and posting about this sweepstakes makes me eligible for free Xanga Premium, $100, a signed movie poster, DVDs, and a t-shirt... Check it out!

Today's Walking Journal includes a botanical sketch of a plant I don't know the name of. But it was so pretty I had to stop to sketch it. I scanned the pencil sketch and reworked it in Paint Shop Pro, adding the colors.

It grew about 3' tall, the flowers bloomed from the bottom up (like foxgloves). Colors ranged from deep burgundy sepials to pale fuchia petals on the flowers, getting deeper as they aged. Bright yellow stamens and gray-green foliage completed the color palette.

This is just a detail of a sketch of a beautiful cedar tree rendered in ballpoint pen. The bark is so interesting the way it swirls in a wavy pattern round the trunk.

I scanned today's sketch and "painted" it in Paint Shop Pro.

This is a sketch from yesterday's Walking Journal looking down on Reservoir No. 5 from the Pheobe Clark memorial bench.
